![\_Repriuted from the Transactions of the OdoiHological Societi/ of Great Britain, for February, 1891.] Mr. President and G-entlemen,—^In America and on the Continent, and especially in Germany, Bromide of Ethyl has for some time past been held in high repute by dental surgeons. In this country, however, I know of no records of its systematic employment in a similar manner; I was, therefore, very willing to fall in with the suggestion made to me in the summer of 1889, by my friend and colleague Mr. Newland-Pedley, and endeavour to obtain some personal expe- rience of the action of this druar. O In laying before yon the record of my obser- vations, I am particularly anxious that it should uot be considered that I appear as an advocate for the indiscriminate use of the drug, or that I in any way suggest that we have in bromide of ethyl, an entirely satisfactory substitute for any of the agents usually employed for the purposes of the dental surgeon.
