About this work

Description

One in seven of us will at some point suffer from chronic pain. In a special programme, Dr. Tanya Byron looks at how the treatment of the condition is bringing together both the medical and psychological worlds. She talks to the psychiatrist, Professor Stephen Tyrer, and Consultant in Pain Management, Dr. Cathy Stannard. Annette Williams talks about her history of chronic back pain. We also visit the Pain Management Unit at the University of Bath to find out about a service for adolescents with chronic pain, using interdisciplinary CBT. And also the Pain Imaging Neuroscience Unit at Oxford University to look at how much is known about how the brain responds to pain.
