Description
In 1993, Michael Palin became involved in a centre that aims to help people who stammer. This documentary follows a group of children attending the centre and includes insights from the children and their parents. Reggie is ten and the eldest of six children and the only one with a stammer. William is eleven and has just started secondary and is conscious of his stuttering. Fourteen-year-old Bethan's speech has got worse since she started stammering at the age of five. All three children and their parents go to the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children with the hope that their stammering will be alleviated. Certain myths are expelled immediately such as parental responsibility for the stammer although it is acknowledged that parents can play an important role in recovery.
