About this work

Description

Helen Davies is a UK-born thalidomider with only very minor impairments from thalidomide which surgery rapidly corrected. The majority of her life was therefore unaffected by the drug and she never sought compensation. However, later in life she developed some problems with her hip joints, approached the Thalidomide Trust and was surprised to receive the amount of compensation she did. She lives with her husband and two sons and has worked as a school laboratory technician for some years. Parts 1 and 2 of the interviews took place in Helen’s home in Odiham on 27 November 2012.
