    Erysipelas. Scarlet Fever. Membranous Croup. Enteric Fever. Puerperal Fever. Measles. Pertussis. There were 27 cases notified, 1 more than during the year 1903. Insanitary conditions played a part in the inci¬ dence of this disease, and in most cases were remedied. There was 1 death. There were 11 cases notified last year, as against 27 cases in 1903. Nine of these cases were removed to the Isolation Hospital, and all recovered. The other 2 cases were thoroughly isolated at their own homes, and made good recoveries without any spread to others. This disease in most of the cases was of a mild type. There were 5 cases notified during November and December. There was 1 death. There were 2 cases of Enteric Fever notified in 1904. This shows an improvement on the figures of 1903, when there were 10 cases. In both these cases there was a history of insanitary conditions near the dwellings from which the cases were notified, and these were remedied. No case had any connec¬ tion with the water or milk supply. 1 here was 1 death as against 3 in 1903. Unfortunately, we had to report 2 cases of Puerperal Fever, and in both instances a fatal issue. I he midwife in attendance was prevented for a month taking on further mid¬ wifery cases. We had a fairly brisk epidemic of this very infectious disease at the end of the year, but fortunately with fair results, there being only 3 deaths registered as compared with 8 deaths in 1903. It was found necessary to close the Trinity Church Schools for a period of one calendar month. There were a good many cases of Whooping Cough in the town, but there was no death recorded. As Measles and Whooping Cough are not notifiable, it is quite impossible to give the number oi cases. I would here once more like to thank the various school authorities of this town for their kind co-operation in helping to prevent the spread of disease, by refusing to admit children in whose homes Measles, Pertussis, Ringworm, or other Infectious Disease was present, until they obtained from me or other qualified medical practitioner a certificate giving a clean bill of health.
