About this work

Description

This rather laboured medical promotion/educational film explains that the human body is a 'primitive ocean'; the relationship between cells, extracellular fluid and odema (water retention) are covered. It uses graphics. There are also a number of elderly patients with different forms of severe odema, typically (cardiac) ventricular failure. This can be treated with diaretics. Animations of the kidney are shown. Later in the film, vivisection is carried out on a rat. Furosemide is the recommended treatment for all the different kinds of odema. described in the film.
