    HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF ABERCORN, K.G., P.C., C.B. HIS MAJESTY’S LIEUTENANT OF DONEGAL. |:He Duke of Abercorn is eldest son of the 1st Duke, and Lady Louise Jane Russell, second + daughter of the 6th Duke of Bedford, K.G. ; and was born August 24th, 1838. His Grace was educated at Harrow, and Christ Church, Oxford, and is M.A. Oxon. He succeeded to the title in 1885 on the death of his father. He has been His Majesty’s Lieutenant of Donegal since 1885 ; and was Groom of the Stole to the Prince of Wales ; Member of Parliament for Donegal, from i860 to 1880, and Lord of the Bedchamber to the Prince of Wales, from 1866 to 1886. He is President of the British South Africa Chartered Company ; Chairman of the Tyrone County Council since its formation ; Chairman Spamount Woollen Mills Company ; President Londonderry Chamber of Commerce ; Knight of the Dannebrog Order, of St. Anne of Russia; and of the Iron Crown of Austria. Hisgrace married, in 1869, Lady Mary Anna Curzon, daughter of the 1st Earl Howe, and has issue seven sons and two daughters ; the heir to the title is his eldest son, the Marquess of Hamilton, M.P.
