About this work
Description
Item on Chagas disease (6 mins.). A report from Brazil, where this disease is endemic, explains the life cycle of the parasite whose vector is a beetle. The parasite is passed through the bite of the beetle and through infected blood products. The resulting illness is untreatable and often fatal. Preventive measures consist of elimination of the beetle through spraying, a test for blood donors and for blood products.
