Description

Papers relating to the Committee on the Review of Medicines (set up in accordance with the Medicines Act 1968 and 1971) , which led to the review of licences of established medicinal products and changes in the licensing procedure . (The committee reviewed many drugs for their safety, potential abuse, efficacy, tolerance and dependency issues, dosage, labelling, contraindiations, directions for use, potential adverse effects. This affected various Fennings products including those containing aspirin and paracetamol). Notably minutes of meetings and correspondence with the Proprietary Association of Great Britain as one of its members affected by the review and new regulations, plus circulars issued by the Medicines Division of the DHSS, papers on changes to application procedures and marketing regulations in the 1980s and how to apply for new licences considering the new labelling and advertising rules and various EEC Directives.
