About this work

Description

Watercolour (with 'wet - on - wet' technique) on paper. Titled 'Prelude', this artwork was created in response to a call for works by The Center for Women's Health and Human Rights (CWHHR) at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, on the theme of menstruation and the female reproductive cycle. This was one of several images selected to promote World Menstruation Day in 2015, to raise girls' self-esteem in countries where menstruation may be considered shameful or unclean and to encourage hygienic practices.
