About this work

Description

Milas (ancient Greek Mylasa) is an ancient city and the seat of the district of the same name in Muğla Province in southwestern Turkey. In the print, a sepulchral monument is shown with Corinthian columns above. Next to the monument a few local men have a picnic while chatting in their traditional clothes such as turban, salwar and gown. A standing man is dressed in a more modern style, perhaps an English tourist. The town of Mylasa (Milas) is seen at left behind
