Description

Rossetti sits behind an easel on to which he draws his muse and mistress, Fanny Cornforth, who sits in front of him. Other people present include Algernon Swinburne who sits far left on the wall with Theodore Watts-Dunton; below them, Whistler with a walking stick and hat; right of Whistler, George Meredith, and Edward Burne Jones presenting a flower to a kangaroo. Further right, William Morris with his arm raised in declamation; Hall Caine (behind wall); Holman Hunt; and John Ruskin on the far right. In addition there are is a menagerie of animals includinga snake, a tortoise, and a long-beaked bird which looks over Morris's shoulder
