About this work

Description

Tuberculous meningitis This is a coronal section through the left temporal lobe in a patient who was HIV-positive. Note that the meninges are discoloured. Small grey foci (miliary granulomas) can also be seen in the centre of the field. In this case, the tuberculous inflammation has obstructed the meningeal arteries and resulted in infarction of the temporal lobe. This is indicated by the dark discoloured rim of grey and white matter adjacent to the meninges.
