    tliat made the earth to tremble, that did shake “ kingdoms.” With respect to the final issue of his contest vwith Great Britain, I presume it will terminate :in the total destruction of, his usurped empire. IDaniel saith, chap. vii. 11. that he “beheld, even “ till the beast was slain, and his body destj'oyed, “ and giv'en to the burning flame.” The angel declares, ver. 27, “ that the kingdom and domi-^ ■“ nion, and the greatness of the kingdom under ‘“‘ the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High.” Also respect- ing the happy period when the earth shall be full □f the knowledge of the Lord, it is said, in allusion :<to the subduing the inordinate and turbulent pas- sions of men, (Isaiah xi. 6.) “ the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid ; and the calf and the young ' ‘ lion and the fading together, and a little child ‘ ‘ shall lead them.” In the 20th verse of the ehap- iier under consideration, it is added. “ The seed of :ivil doers shall never be renowned.” It therefore is nconsistent with prophecy that Bonaparte should inally prosper, plant his banners on the British isles, ■ extend his empire over the earth, and that its in- i labitants should groan under the iron rod of his I oppressive power.
