About this work

Description

This image shows the bud of the 'Blue Cheese' strain of marijuana or cannabis. It is said to be a hybrid of the 'Blueberry' and UK 'Cheese' strains. It is described as a small soft and sticky bud with sandy orange hairs and is said to possess a pungent smell as the name would suggest. The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is a long debated topic. Some clinicians have recommended its use as an anti-emetic or sickness remedy for patients undergoing chemotherapy or those suffering from chronic pain disorders but many remain unconvinced. UK law does not recognise any therapeutic value in the non-license use of the plant but in 2006 introduced Sativex a cannabinoid oral spray treatment for spasticity in multiple sclerosis.
