Description

An incomplete compilation film made as teaching material missing intertitles and a sound track. There are two clear sequences on the reel (Cyst of epididymis and Fissure in ano) but the third (Haemorrhoidectomy) is taken from the donor's inventory and is not so obvious.

One of several films created as a result of the research work carried out by F. T. (Frederick Thomas) Graves between 1952 and 1986 at University College Hospital, Kings College Hospital and Staffordshire General Infirmary. F. T. Graves was the brother of John Graves (1923-1980) who set up the Graves Medical Audiovisual Library with his wife Valerie.
From accompanying notes relating to Fissure in ano: 'Dilation of the anal sphincter - demonstration of the ulcerated fissure between two tissue forceps. - The fissure is in the classical position, being in the mid-line posteriorly - excision of the ulcer.'
