    Oral and printed commands were executed slowly and with the former he tended to become confused between blue and violet, orange and yellow. Shown a colour, he could sometimes choose the printed card which bore its name,although in three instances he failed entirely. On one occasion, after selecting with considerable hesitation the card which bore the word “violet,” he laid the coloured silk across the card, as if he were matching two colours, and said, “Yes, that’s right isn’t it?” He still had much difficulty in writing down the names of colours shown to him, but he could write them fairly well to dictation and copied them from print in cursive script. (Table 8.) He now read these simple phrases aloud correctly though very slowly from print, but was able to produce them with ease and rapidity in response to a com¬ bination of any two pictures. He could write accurately from pictures or to dictation and copied the words from print in cursive handwriting without mistakes. It is interesting to notice that these simple phrases could be evoked most easily from pictures both for articulated speech and written reproduction. (4) The coin-bowl tests. Oral commands were perfectly executed and he made no mistakes to printed orders, provided he did not read them aloud. If, however, he attempted to utter the words, he spelt them out letter by letter, often incorrectly, and so confused himself. These observations were almost exactly similar to those made nearly three years before.
