About this work
Description
Includes:
28 August, 1894. George Bird MD to Burroughs, enquiring if Burroughs has "any intention of entering the British Parliament". The seat for Banbury "is to be vacated by the present Liberal holder as soon as a candidate comes into the field." Burroughs replies (verso) that there are "probably a thousand people in all [who] depend for a living either directly or indirectly" upon his business, and he would, therefore, "rather be of service to the cause of the people outside Parliament than inside."
15 September, 1894. Burroughs Wellcome & Co to Burroughs, quoting a letter from John Roger on the unsuitability (dampness) of the Dartford works for preparing tea Tabloids.
15 September, 1894. Table listing "Illustrated Papers" (e.g. Queen, Lady) carrying Burroughs Wellcome & Co advertisements, indicating size and cost.
31 December, 1894. Copy letter, from Antibes, Burroughs to Sudlow. A letter at year's end, wishing a happy new year, and sending for Mrs Sudlow "a box of flowers from this vicinity." Burroughs refers to his health, and to various remedies being taken. The health of his sister, Mrs Riggs is "greatly improved" since she arrived. [2 sheets]
