Biographical note

Combe, Andrew (1797-1847) was a physician and phrenologist, born in Edinburgh. He showed particular interest in mental diseases and was often consulted in cases of insanity. Combe died in Gorgie, near Edinburgh of a pulmonary complaint in 1847. A full description of his life and work is to be found in the Dictionary of National Biography.
