About this work

Description

This very watchable and informative film begins with a reconstruction scene in which a GP gets a call in the middle of the night to visit a man suffering from an exacerbation of his chronic bronchitis. The film then goes on to show the diagnosis and management of chronic bronchitis, the avoidance of irritants, how physiotherapy can help, diaphragmatic breathing and postural drainage, how bronchodilation can help to relieve spasm and how antibiotic treatment of infected exacerbations can help. Contains footage of city life for the 'lower classes' at that time as well as hospital life.
