Description

A compilation of 12 films of various durations organised into 4 subjects to support campaigns to reduce blood-borne virus transmission and drug-related deaths. The first section relates to blood-borne viruses with five titles; 'HIV, hepatitis C and injecting drug use'; a documentary style training film for all those working with injecting drug users, 'How small is the hep C virus?'; a dramatic animation designed to highlight the importance of avoiding transmission of blood-borne viruses, 'HIV and hepatitis C survival in syringes'; short documentary that answers the question: how long do HIV and hepatitis C survive in syringes?, 'Does cleaning syringes work?'; a short film explaining what we know about how effectively thin bleach kills viruses in syringes and 'Cleaning syringes'; a simple method, clear instruction. Described as essential viewing for all injecting drug users. The second section regards overdose with four titles 'Going over'; four overdose scenarios dramatised from real events , 'Recovery'; a resource aimed at people who might witness an overdose, 'Mr Mange goes over'; a grimly comic look at the causes of overdose death (contains a warning about swearing and drug references) and 'Training saves lives'; highlights the importance of running overdose response training. The third section regards hand and injecting site hygiene; 'Hand washing: spot the difference'; a unique take on the importance of hand washing designed to reduce the toll caused by injecting site injections and 'Hand washing: correct technique'; a simple and clear instructional film showing injectors how to wash their hands. Finally, the last section, 'Femoral injecting'; 'Keep walking - a film for groin injectors' (this video is described as a hard hitting documentary for femoral injectors and drug workers with a note that this is not for general viewing or distribution).
