About this work
Description
Narrated by Sue Johnston, this documentary traces the lives of some of the 456 thalidomide victims, most of who have now reached 40 and concentrating particularly on Janette Cooke, as she prepares for her 40th birthday party. Includes archive material from the 1960's when the first thalidomide babies were born and footage of attempts by well-meaning carers to make the children appear as 'normal' as possible by fitting them with artificial limbs.
