About this work

Description

Bloteling's title page for Kerckring's Spicilegium anatomicum is a playful illustration of the title, which means "Anatomical gleaning". The Dutch engraver Bloteling is connected to another anatomical work, G. Bidloo's Anatomia humani corporis of 1685, which includes Bloteling's engraving after G. de Lairesse's portrait of Bidloo (see this cataloguue, no. 1102i) The engraving of the plates of this book has also been attributed to him
