"The first annual report of the Librarian of the India Office Library was issued for the financial year ending 31 March 1917, and the series continued from that year until 1967, with a break only for the years 1931-35. For the India Office Records, on the other hand, no Report has so far been issued. The joint occupation of new premises [...] is a suitable occasion for starting a series of Reports which will cover both institutions. The present Report [ended 31 March 1968] is the first in the series.
