Ellis- ton, Esq.'lately residing at No. 35, Mortimer-strect, Caven¬ dish-square, but now of Queen-Anne-street, East, who had been eighteen years troubled with a most inveterate Scorbutic Humour, and was on the eve of being doomed to a hazardous, and, at all events, an unnecessary sal hat ion. 'Phis gentleman, from the purest motives of humanity and philanthropy, requested his case should be pub¬ lished, and has always very readily communicated the particulars to any persons of respectability making application at his house—an honourable example for imitation. HIS CASE DESCRIBED. Mr. ELLISTON had for eighteen years been subject to scorbutic symptoms, but for the last eighteen months they had increased to such a degree as to be seriously alarming. Innu¬ merable large spots or eruptions, ot a deep red, about the size ot peas, and hard, appeared In clusters on. various paits of the body, thighs, arms, hands, head, and particularly on ihe forehead, which was dreadfully disfigured. In short, language can but faintly depic¬ ture his real condition. But appearances were only of trilling import when compared with the violent heat and itching which incessantly to’rmented him. In this situation he consulted his Physician and Surgeon, both men of respectability arid eminence, who, after a consultation, decided on the necessity of his submitting to a course of physic, alluding to Mer- cu'-y, which would confine him to his room for some weeks. Air. E. being advanced in years (more than fifty of which had been spent in the naval service of his country) told them he would take time to consider of it, as he could not but with great reluctance submit ■to confinement, He advised with his friends on the subject, some of whom recommended him to try De Velno’s Vegetable Pills, which he very fortunately consented to, and, by persevering in thyrn, and them alone, he has received a perfect cure. During this course he had not an hour's confinement, nor was he restricted to any regimen or diet, except tem¬ perance ; on the contrary, he perceived no effect whatever from the Pills, except that of gradually recovering from his complaint, end daily acquiring an addition of health, strength, and spirits, ANOTHER PROOF. J. MEREDITH, Coachman to Lord Selsey, Lower Grosvenor-street, was for a con¬ siderable time tormented with a most desperate Scorbutic Leprosy, hideous to the sight, and itching most insufferably; in reality, at least three-fourths of the surface of his body, from his head to his feet, were completely incrusted with leprous scales. By perseverance in De Velno’s Vegetable Tills, without any confinement, or limitation in diet, he is per fectly recovered.
