[Begins:] Señor. D[o]n Martin de Sessé Cathedratico de Medicina de la R[ea]l y Pontificia Universidad de Mexico .... A.L.R.P. de V.M. expone los Meritos que ha contraido en Servicio de V.M. [&c.]. [Followed by:] Relacion de los meritos y servicios de D. Martin de Sesse [&c.]. Produced in Aranjuez, Spain. Ll. 1-4: Official copy on papel sellado, signed by Sessé and dated 4 February 1804, of a suit to Charles IV for grant of the title Médico de cámara and for financial support and professional recognition for José Mariano Mociño [1757-1820] who had accompanied Sessé to Spain; the suit details Mociño's numerous services on expeditions and in research. Ll. 5-6: An unsigned copy, not on papel sellado, of Sessé's detailed Relación, from his service as Practicante mayor in the Spanish army at the siege of Gibraltar in 1779 to his appointment as Director of the Botanical Expedition to New Spain [1787], based on the official documents remitted to the Secretaría de Gracia y Justicia de Indias at the order of the Conde de Revillagigedo, second Viceroy of New Spain [1789-94] of that title.
