About this work

Description

Chimicus rosarum hortus seu Rosetum chimicum; una cum praefatione hic adjuncta per Fredericum Roth-Scholtzen Silesium. Versio Italica ex lingua Teutonica juxta exemplar Norimbergae 1719. Norimbergae et Altorfii. Apud. Jo. Daniel Taubers, et heredes. Anno MDCCXIX. Versio Italica. Romae. MDCCLIV. At the end of the first work, extracts from the Halle 1726 edition have been appended, and Becher's 'Concordantia Mercuriorum', together with extracts from other chemical and alchemical authors: in Italian and Latin. There are copious additions and marginal notes by two different hands. The first of these writes mainly in Latin. His name appears to be Josephus, or Claudius Josephus de Alteriis de Sisgau. Both names are found on the first fly-leaf and in the same script, and they may be identical. The dates 1760 and 1780 are found on the same leaf. The second writer's entries are all in Italian, and are written in a later 18th or early 19th cent. hand. Produced in Rome.
