    The eradication scheme for Brucellosis moves forward, hampered perhaps by its voluntary nature, and because of the expense to farmers of joining the scheme with approved herds free of reactors. It is hoped that the Government will bring compensation for the slaughter of good milking cows up to market value, when reactors will become less elusive. In a large dairy county such as Dorset, it would be interesting to know the results of routine screening tests on persons at risk, who, while not suffering from acute more easily diagnosed manifestations of human Brucellosis, show bacteriological evidence of infection. I would like to mention the Food Hygiene Lectures given in Beaminster by the Public Health Inspector, Mr. Pickford, to adult audiences. Health education either to young or adult audiences has not been easy to obtain. Mr. Pickf.ord has chosen to add to his duties by tackling this important subject in the field of health education and he plans to continue- on the same theme next year. Reorganisation of Local Government and the Health Services draw nearer. In the meantime, your Department will continue its routine and necessary work to maintain the environmental health of your district.
