Description
Cerebral toxoplasmosis
This is a high power view of brain in treated cerebral toxoplasmosis. Immunocytochemical stain using a specific antibody to Toxoplasma gondii and the immunoperoxidase method.
The numerous brown deposits represent antigen of Toxoplasma gondii. The parasites are particularly focalized in the wall of the blood vessel (right hand side). They may be alive or dead but the lesion is inactive and the parasites are not visible by routine stains.
