Riccardo Pellegrini da Pizzo Calabro Settembre 1905 Cutting attached to lower margin from periodical in which this painting was reproduced: "The town crier announcing the arrival of relief to homeless peasants at Pizzo, Calabria. By our special artist Prof. Riccardo Pellegrini ....ved by the earthquake. A number of people were badly injured by the falling buildings, but fortunately, only four were killed. The population, which is thoroughly panic-stricken, has been living in the open air or in improvised tents and huts. Every effort has been made to bring relief to the unfortunate people. Our illustration shows the crier with his drum announcing the arrival of food and the hour when it would be distributed."
