    The generous help of this well-organised Fund is much appreciated and the Board sincerely thanks all those who have been instrumental in obtaining this splendid addition to the Fund. As a token of appreciation of the work of the children and teachers of the City’s day schools in collecting £19,160 for the Cot Fund during the past 50 years, a Silver Cup was presented by the Hospital to the Chairman of the Newcastle Education Committee on 28th October, 1947, to be awarded annually for some activity in which the children take part. Vickers-Armstrongs The Board again records with gratitude the Employees’ Medical receipt on 19th February, 1947, of a Special Un * Contribution of £325. This makes a total received since 1922 of £12,422 : 5 : 0 and is in addition to their annual contribution towards the maintenance of the Hospital. The object on which the money may be spent is left in the hands of Mr. G. Wagget, their representative, who is also a member of the Board. Order of the Eastern During the year the sum of £286 : 6 : 9 Star* has been received from the North of England District Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. The total sum including intreest received towards the endowment of a Cot is £444 : 1 : 1 and is greatly appreciated. Fleming Annual Ball. This was a most successful function organised bv Mr. Keith Millican, and a Committee of willing helpers, to whom the Board expresses sincere thanks. The net financial result was a donation of £200. This has been credited to a special deposit account, and will not be used for the ordinary upkeep of the Hospital. Annual Gold Medal Major Martin Millican has kindly offered to and Money Prize. provide a Gold Medal each year to be presented to the best Staff Nurse of the year and to be called “ The Cyril Millican Gold Medal ”. In addition the Board agreed to give annually a cash prize of twenty-five guineas. Special Donations. The Board expresses sincere thanks for the following Special Donations :— Mrs. P. H.
