    REPORT for the year ending 31st December, 1927. In presenting our report (the Statistical and Financial part of which relates to the year ending December 31st, 1927) we desire at the outset to thank all those who, by their financial support and in other wavs, have helped the Committee to carry on the work of the Hospital in an efficient and satisfactory manner. Sufficient income has been collected to meet the needs of the Hospital—this in itself, is evidence of the confidence felt by the public in the work that is being done for the community. From the Statistical tables it wdl be seen that the number of patients admitted into the general wards was 342 and into the private wards 39, a total of 381 as compared with 350 in 1926. The number of Accident cases admitted was 43. No less than 270 operations were performed in the Hospital. The patients themselves are asked to give as much as they can afford towards the cost of their treatment, and it will be seen from the accounts that last year the amount received from them and from their Societies on their behalf was £884 18s. 6d. which includes the Charges, amounting to £460 9s. lid, received from the patients in the private wards. It is with very much pleasure that we are able to record our warm appreciation of the gift of £1,000 from the Trustees of the late Mr. Leopold Salomons, of Norburv Park, to start a Pension Fund for the Staff. The money has been invested in 4% Con¬ solidated Stock, and the interest will be available as and when necessary for granting retiring allowances in accordance with the rules of the Hospital. The Committee have decided to transfer £100 from the Income Account, so that the Fund will now have to its credit £1,110 10s. The Committee are in no small measure indebted to Mrs. Salomons for her kind influence in obtaining this handsome donation. It is only a further indication of the great interest that Mrs. Salomons has taken in the Hospital and the welfare of its staff.
