Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "A private photograph taken on a beach. By the 1920s, such was the popularity of the picture postcard that it was possible to have roll-films taken from your Kodak 'Brownie' camera and printed up in this format at the local chemist. Such 'private' photographs of young men such as this (in what would have appeared at the time an extremely brief swimming costume), have become a staple of gay collectors in later times".
