About this work

Description

Postcard showing a portrait of contortionist Maxi Schommer and 5 acrobatic poses of him in various positions airbrushed into one image. He had the ability to bend over backwards to the extent that his head could appear in front of his thighs, as if his spine was made of rubber. The card would have been sold as a souvenir at places where he performed as part of a freak, circus or variety show.
