About this work
Description
Three-year-old Liam has a rare muscle-enlarging condition. This has given him a lot of physical strength and energy - he was walking by 5 months old and could walk upright up and downstairs by the age of 6 months. He wasn't diagnosed with any kind of medical condition until he was 18 months old when it became clear that he had a problem with myostatin uptake. His condition is unprecedented so it is not known whether or not he will be eligible to take part in competitive sports or if he will be considered to have an unfair advantage. Medical researchers are also speculating as to whether or not his condition will shed light on conditions such as muscular dystrophy.
