About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Massive style, depicting King Lear and the fool in a stormy landscape. This piece was painted by a depressed women in recovery. Rita Simon described her as "An educated women who know her Shakespeare. A work by her (The Piper) is reproduced in The symbolism of style page 150 as an example of a painting produced in a depressed state".

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The date has been taken from other items in the section.
