Description

Student's notes of his 'Lectures on the anatomy of the human body' and 'On the operations of surgery'. Memorandum of Mr. Cheseldons [sic] 'Lecture on the bones in general' Jan. 11, 1726, etc. Beginning at the other end of the volume, the notes of the single lecture by Cheselden are followed by 'Memorandum' of six lectures by 'Mr. Simonds' or 'Symonds' on osteology Jan. 17-31 1725/6. Produced in London.

Biographical note

The lecturer is probably Joshua Symonds [ -1731], who was appointed surgeon to St. Thomas's Hospital in 1728. A John Symonds, or Simonds, also a surgeon who practised later at Exeter and died in 1788, was assistant to Hunter. Following these are the seven lectures by Hunter on the 'Operations of surgery'.
