Notes

After an illustration in H. Gray's Anatomy, editions 1 - 11 (1858-1887), in the last of which it appeared in two colours, as here, for the first time. The vidian nerve is incorrectly depicted as passing in front of the internal carotid artery. This detail was corrected in the 12th edition (1890)
