Description

Histopathology of the liver: amoebic abscess This is a high power view of liver tissue at the edge of an amoebic abscess. The centre of the picture contains trophozoites (large, pale cells), necrotic exudate (dark blue), and inflammatory cells (small, black cells). The pinkink-staining areas in the upper part of the picture are hepatocytes. Elsewhere in the picture the hepatocytes are necrotic and fragmented. H&E stain.
