About this work

Description

This print shows the hospital as rebuilt by T. Cartwright c.1680-1702. Cartwright added an extra storey to the existing building, and designed and carved the elaborate gateway with a statue of Edward VI. The newly-built Monument to the Great Fire of London is visible in the distance to the left
