1 volume 219 ll. + 51 bl. ll. + 2 ll. 4to. 23 × 18 cm. Original calf binding worn: stamped 'I.S.' on each cover. Leaves numbered W 14, W 15 cut out.

Biographical note

The compiler of this collection of medical receipts is perhaps Johanna St. John, daughter of Oliver St. John [1598-1673], Lord Chief Justice. She married a kinsman Sir Walter St. John, third Baronet, M.P. for Wiltshire [1621-1708], and was grandmother to Henry St. John, first Viscount Bolingbroke [1678-1751].
