About this work

Description

Intercut with gritty black and white footage of life on the street, this hard-hitting documentary recounts the real-life consequences of heroin addiction in areas of inner-city Portsmouth. The video maps the pathways from casual multi-drug use - alcohol, cannabis - to the nightmare world of heroin abuse. Addicts in the cells at Portsmouth Central Police Station tell their stories to a worker from the Drugs Arrest Referral Team. One woman admits that heroin has stolen her entire life. Another can't remember when she last saw her infant son.
