Description

A herbal manuscript titled Kruid Boek getrokken uyt Dodoneaus, containing copied extracts from a 1644 edition of Cruydt-Boeck by Rembert Dodoens. It includes hand-coloured illustrations of plants with names given in Kanji, as well as Latin and Dutch with Katakana transliteration, and additional notes in Dutch.

Ownership note

An inscription at the front of the manuscript reads ‘Present van J.Gonnosky’, a note which has been attributed to Yoshio Gennosuke (1785-1831), one of the Nagasaki interpreters by Walravens.
