Biographical note

The author describes himself as 'Profesor de Cirugia en Paniza', and the work is dedicated 'Al Sr. Dn. Antonio Gimbernat [1734-1816] Cirujano maior del Hospital Real y General [de San Carlos (in Madrid)]'. Gimbernat took over this institution and reorganized it in 1787.
