Hogarth is painting a picture of the sacrifice of Isaac: Abraham is about to shoot his son with a pistol, but an angel urinates on the flintlock and prevents the shot from being fired. On the wall above, Hogarth projects a magic lantern slide of a painting similar to his 'Paul before Felix burlesqued', 1751
