Description

The Art of Secret Astrology containing the Horary Reigns of the Celestial Intelligences, Elections of Fortunate and Unfortunate Times; for commencing, pursuing and finishing any Undertaking; and also the important Secret whereby may be most certainly known the Thoughts, meaning, and Intent of any person whatever at any stated time either of making Proposals, visits, Letters, etc., and whether they come as Friends or Enemies. This last grand Discovery, has never yet in any age of the world, not at any time whatever been communicated, except by select oral Testimony. Invented by R.C.S. 1822. Author's holograph MS. Illustrated with pen-drawn horoscopic figures, sigils, talismans, etc. The latter part of the MS., from fol. 102 to the end, contains magical formulae, incantations, charms, etc.: it is perhaps incomplete.

1 volume 98 pp. + ff. 102-133. 4to. 231/2 × 19 cm. Original red calf binding, with brass clasp and lock (defective). Partly paginated, partly foliated: pp. 11-14, 89/90, 99-101, ff. 129, 132, [132A] are wanting.

Biographical note

The author is best known for his 'Astrologer of the nineteenth century', published in 1824, under the pseudonym of 'Raphael'.
