On the 15th of the fame month, the following ac- • count of him appeared in the public papers : “ Mr John Innes, at an early period of life, had been educated in the dilTedling art. He made a rapid progrefs in his profeffion; and his genius and induflry were rewarded with the privilege of giving private lec- tures for his own emolument. The utility of his lef- fons was foon perceived. Numbers of {Indents re- forted to him for inflriuflion ; and all of them ac- knowledged the advantages they had received. At that Itage of life v/hen men are moll capable 'of benefiting themfelves and of being uieful to the public, death hurried him out of the world. He has given two fmall {'pecimens of what was to be expelled from his ana- tomical flvill. The me- ■rit of this work was univerfally acknowledged. Some riionths after, he publifhed, as a vade mecum for ftu- .'dents, Eight Anatomical Tables, containing the prin- cipal parts of the flceleton and mufcles reprefented in the Large Tables of Albinus, with accurate explana- /tions. Thefe are all the monuments he has left, by which the public is to judge of his ability. To his numerous friends and acquaintance it is unnecclTary to mention the warmth of his heart, or the integrity of Lis difpofition.” * A new edition has been fince publifhed, correfted and improved by Dr Monro.
