About this work

Description

Their children are shown in the background. An impression with Grosvenor Prints has full lettering in English and French, with English lettering as follows: "A lady fearing her husband's propensity to gaming would ruin his family, contrived by one of her relations to win his whole fortune; and when he was full of horror at the supposed situation to which he had reduced them, she produces the bond and acknowledges the stratagem.". That impression is accompanied by a pair in the same format, "The power of innocence"
