About this work

Description

Black and white photograph of a female child, aged 6 years with a supernumerary leg growing from the left buttock (a dipygus parasiticus). This case forms no exception to the law that the completeness of the parasite varies directly with its proximity to the head of its host; growing from the pelvis, the parasite is represented merely by a lower extremity.
