About this work

Description

Line drawing in ink and brush style from an anonymous manuscript probably dating from the end of the Qing period (1644-1911). Yinqiao mai (Yin Heel Vessel) is one of the Eight Extraordinary Channels (Qi jing ba mai). Originating in the heel, it runs upward via the inner ankle, and meets chongmai (Penetrating Vessel) at the throat. Acu-moxa locations on this channel include zhaohai (Shining Sea) and jiaoxin (Exchange Letters). According to current teaching, pathological changes in the channel cause somnolence.
